Riverside, California ▪ Family Law Attorney

Battles within a family can take a huge financial and emotional toll. If your family becomes enmeshed in the family law court system, you need an attorney who will take the time to thoroughly discuss your situation and advise you of your options. You should be fully informed of the process and timelines as well.

Often a party to a divorce, or other family law matter, feels victimized and angry. If the parties let their emotions govern their actions, children can end up bearing the brunt of emotional stress during a divorce. At the Tetley Law Offices, in Riverside, California, we believe that it is vitally important to protect children from unnecessary trauma during a divorce. We understand that families want a quick resolution to their legal problems. As a former family law Superior Court Commissioner, I understand the difficult decisions that both the court and families must make. As a longtime member of the National Association of Counsel for Children, I pay special attention to the child's best interest.

Juvenile Law and Dependency Issues - De Facto Parents

The legal system affords your child protection against abuse, neglect, and emotional instability. If you are not a biological parent, you may still have access to court proceedings. If you have a special relationship with the children, we will file the necessary application naming you as a de facto parent, granting you access to what would otherwise be confidential hearings concerning a child. As a de facto parent, you are basically treated as another parent, and thus can call and cross examine witnesses and receive copies of court reports.

De Facto Parent status is often brought by current or former foster parents, relatives, caregivers, or others with a special relationship with the child and information about the child. Without De Facto status, often your voice will not be heard.
